Not a bad price, I'm sure the sound is as good or better than HD's stock Harmon Kardon setup.
Hmmmm....seriously doubtful, but OK. As long as the OP is happy, it's probably money well spent. Anything "stock" generally begs for an aftermarket upgrade, but the HK unit (with integrated CB, CD, weather and intercom) is actually fairly decent. With a good set of speakers (see?) the head unit has plenty of oomph and doesn't look like a hack job.
Sounds like my 97 Electra Glide Standard setup. I kept it for 7 years and sold it to a friend. He rode it another 4 years and no problems with the stereo or speakers. Rode thru several rain storms. Guess we were just lucky!
Congrats on your successful installation; glad you are pleased.
I did a similar install on my '04 FLHTPI shortly after its purchase in Feb. '05 for similar $$$, but the police bikes don't come with the speaker adapter rings that the civilian models have, so that was an additonal expense.
Don't know what you listen to, but I was very happy to add the Biketronics interface for handlebar controls of the headunit. For me, it made for a safer ride; using the thumb switches was much safer than trying to find and press small buttons on the radio to change music source, volume, FM stations, etc.
