i like the EG w/ detach tour pack look i like the added chrome over the street glide and with the solo seat, yummy oh just look at her oh oh oh oh baby, i can change it over to a full dresser in less than 5 minutes!
No question in my mind either..EG. I bought the 09 and love it. I'm a distance rider myself and I ride 2 up often. So we need the extra room and storage. Although I would love to have both
You're going thru the same thing as me! I finally decided that it was cheaper to take stuff off than to add stuff back! I didn't like the look of the tour pak but after using it for a while I couln't give it up. It's much easier for an "Old Gezzer" to get stuff out of the pak. I only use the saddle bags for stuff seldom used. The only thing I had to do was put a lowering kit on and mod. the seat. I think I made the right choice for me. I haven't done the quick detach. yet as my wife has been riding with me alot. If she ever stops riding, look out! I love the look of the SG
Look at the details. For example, the SG has different gauges and some chrome that the Classic doesn't. The SG isn't very passenger friendly.
Turning a classic or ultra into a street glide isn't just a matter of removing parts and just adding a tourpack won't make the SG as comfortable as a classic (especially for the pasenger).
I have a street glide and really love it but I wouldn't hesitate getting a EG. It just comes down to what fits you and what you really like plus what may be available in color options, etc. Personal choice as usual so only you can make up your mind but you can't lose on either one so go get it and start riding.
How often are you going to make long trips? Do you mind the extra weight? Do you like the custom look? Here was my answer. I can put the tour pack on in 1 min.
I'm fortunate enough to have one of each. The EGC is a '95 Evo and the SG an '06. The SG is hopped up (100/100) so there's that but when it comes to comfort and storage that old Classic always gets the nod. Just can't beat it for comfort and storage on long trips and I only notice the power difference for about the first 30 minutes. If I only had one bike it would be an EGC with a detachable tourpak and a few other mods that would make it a unique EGC/SG hybrid.
