When I got my Ultra last year, I had the dealer install Rinheart TD"s, Air cleaner and down load. Although the engine is a stock 88, they suggested the download for 95 inch in stead of 88. I can only compare to other dressers I've ridin and I wouldn't say I lost any low end, it feels strong.
blk06rk is right! No scavenging is even possible with true duals. Matter of fact, most are not even tuned. Not too big of deal ... nobody puts on true duals for high performance anyway. Its usually just aesthetics.
That said, I got a set of Bassani Power Curves that will be going on pretty soon. Couldn't resist the duals. Just didn't want as much of a bruise to the torque.
I put off gettting TDs because of all the hype on torque loss. The heat loss FAR excedes anything you may feel in torque loss.
Wish I did it lastyear...
Torque loss from istalling true duals is possible, however you can TUNE your bike, make a few changes, cams, intake, carb, efi , etc. and gain more from true duals. Not to mention the heat loss, more top end power. It all boils down to your engine set-up! I went with Bassani true duals & am presently running an old set of thunderheader slip-ons! Very happy with this combination. Not to mention soon to upgrade my cams. Then I will need to change slip-ons for more backpressure though! Just wanted to put my thoughts in the mess.
