Default Do all true duals kill torque?

Finally getting some warm weather here in NH. It was about 80 this weekend and took the wife out for a ride and got complaints of heat from the exhaust on her legs. I have the SERT which did help and I am getting it dyno tuned, but I'm wondering if I should just convert to duals now and bite the bullet. I have SE II slipons now and love the look of the duals, but don't want to lose the low end torque that I've heard about the Rineharts...are there others out there without this side effect?

No [sm=bs.gif] torque loss/side effect here. Are ya racin' it or ridin' it? Mufflers and clamps..SUCK!

Somehow I knew you'd be one of the first to respond to this thread. What kind of RMP were you making your torque on for your dyno run?

if they do you won't feel it, you can feel the mid range increase though when you pass a truck.

I heard that the very newest version of the Rineharts have corrected the low-end issue.

All true duals hurt TQ. on other wise stock motors, Anybody tells you different is fooling theirself or don't know what their talking about, Some of the loss can be made up by adding other power adders like free flowing air filters, PC-3's and so on. True dual setups lower backpressure and lower backpressure kills Tq. And yes you will feel it.

No torque loss here................none at all.

That is with the new '06 Rineharts with the stock baffles, Ness Big Sucker, PCIIIusb, and stock motor.

Here is a quote from HeadQuarter's website -

" NEWS FLASH!!!! John’s Performance in Washington state gets 92.4 HP and 96.4 foot pounds of torque from a stock 88 cubic inch 2006 Street Glide using a Head Quarters HQ-0034 bolt in cam, Power Commander and Rhinehart Tru-Duals. Great work John!! "

I don't see any mention of torque loss there either.

Steve

I really don't know what to think. I just installed Rinehart TD's and after the Dyno, my bike is pulling better than before. And no, it isn't the sound making this analysis. While on the Dyno I was noticing the bike was dragging in the 2,000 to 3,500 range, the Dyno guy make some adjustments to the way the fuel was delivered and WOW! did it make a difference. We also adjusted for any backfire and the bike is running very strong. I am very pleased with my TD's. Just my $.02

If you've already got the SERT, put the duals on before you get it dyno'd. Personally, I agree with Bounty Hunter, if you're ridin around with your wife, you don't need to be racin' anyway.

I had ULTRA dyno'd a couple months ago just for grins, SE air cleaner, Stage 1 download, True Dual Rieharts, 66hp/76lbs. torque. I'm happy. 50 MPG puttin around on group rides 2 up, 40-45 screamin down the interstrate solo.

If you get the Reinharts, you probably won't be able to resist twistin' it just a little bit more just to hear them.
