I have a HD suit and some Frogg Toggs Road Toads and both will keep you dry and suprisingly enough the HD suit packs pretty small too. The Froggs will melt if you get them on the exhaust.
I have the Tourmaster Flex Series 2 jacket. Hit has a zip-on zip-off rain attachment that works very well. I just keep the attachment stuffed in my bag.
Both my wife and I wear the Frogg Toggs and are quite satisfied with them. As several have already stated, they will melt easily if coming into contact with your exhaust. They have served us quite well over the past several years. A good buy for the money and they don't take up your whole trunk when stored.
I searched around earlier this year for raingear for my trip to Sturgis and decided on buying tourmaster since they were rated very highly by an independent mc consumer report. they worked out great. got the 2 piece (I think they're called elite) for less than $100 and bought HD gators (boot covers) for another $29.00. My tourmaster pants have the heat protectors on the inside of the legs to prevent them from burning on the pipes. they make 2 styles of pants, one with the protectors and one without, I recommend paying the extra to get the one's with. you won't be disappointed.
HD's packable rain gear has been good to my wife and I. http://www.harley-davidson.com/mcm/m...bmLocale=en_US
Have about 8 hours of rain time in them, and I highly recomend!
One ride - 6 hour's of driving rain. Everything covered was dry!
I have a set of the HD High-Visibilty rain gear and it packs into basically the same size as my old Frogg-Togg rain gear. I like the HD gear a bit better as it seems to be more durable and really keeps the rain out everywhere, whereas the Frogg-Toggs were good, but not quite as efficient at keeping rain out (mostly around the lower legs and lower arms).
+1 on the HD "Hi Vis"- I also tried the Frogg Tog route- Ended up spending more time removing the burned material front the cross over pipe than wearing the darn things- Got to go with the gang- Buy the HD rain suit. http://www.harley-davidson.com/mcm/m...bmLocale=en_US
