I got the HD light gray and orange rain suit. Cost me about 140.00. I like them alright. Have worn them a couple of times. They pack up pretty small and slip over your boots/pants/jacket pretty well. Plus I think they have protection down low so they won't melt as easy against the exhaust.

I keep a set of Frogg Toggs on the bike all the time. They don't take up much space, they're inexpensive and keep me dry. I use them over a light jacket when it's too hot for my textile jacket and overpants.

I keep my legs away from the pipes whether I've got the Toggs on or not so melting has not been a problem. A 34" inseam probably helps.

I find them very quick to put on and take off because of the light material. With the hood up under a full face helmet I stay dry. I also velcroed together the pass-through pockets on the pants. The material has frayed a bit in some places due to the wind but they are still water tight.

They have more than paid for themselves over the last couple of years.

I researched this pretty good and came out with the HD Packable rain gear. Not because it said HD, but because of all the features. Leg protectors to keep from melting and a helmet friendly hood were just 2 of the things I was looking for. I found that the price was equal to some of the other high end suits. Good luck on your search.

Froggs Toggs on Ebay...good deal on brand new.

However, here in CO it rarely rains for extended periods so, believe it or not, the $10 things from Wal Mart are my choice for that RARE occasion I need them. I know, I know.

Have fun...

Purchased the HD ones in 2001 and still wearing it and it is keeping me dry. The wifes set was the cheaper HD version purchased in 01 and had to replace it this year for the high vis, mainly because she like it better.

The HD Overpass outfit is good quality and packs small. The overpants run a bit small for my body shape, but YMMV.

For winter, I use the Olympia AST jacket and Firstgear overpants; it's a great combination, but the jacket is quite bulky with armor and liner. But I've had that outfit for four years and ridden in daylong rain and stayed dry.
