Default The Bernoulli Principle

See attached - this should explain why you are having some of the issues that you do. Wind is shooting straight across the leg area, while having to go up & over the fairing / windshield, which speeds it up, and creates suction from underneath. Put lower fairings on it, and that should take care of 1 issue. Now, if your shield isn't high enough to block the air that is coming straight at the top of your head, that straight line will catch some of the rising air off your screen, and become very turbulent by the time it gets to your helmet, creating the buffeting.

I spent 2 days doing experiments on my RKC because i was having terrible buffeting issues. I even ordered the replacement windshield from Clearview w/ recurve, and was shocked when I put it on, and the buffeting got worse! I was so frustrated, that I grabbed the shield on the corners with my hands, and lo and behold, the buffeting stopped! WTF?!? That started me moving my hands into different positions, and then making a cutout of my shield that was the same width, and then a little wider. I moved it around until I found out what the issue was... the air coming straight past / over the corners of the shield were getting churned by the air rising off the shield itself, and pummeling my head. That, combined with the negative air pressure behind the shield (vacuum) only needed one thing... a higher shield with a more squared off corner section, which I have had Clearview make for me - it is shipping tomorrow, fingers are crossed that this is it.

The RKC doesn't have the same issue that the RG does, because it isn't a wing-like shape... it is a door / brick being pushed into the wind. At almost 6'2'', I am learning that taller riders have a much harder time with this stuff than do shorter riders. Just hang in there, and you can work it out! Good luck, and I will post what happens when my CV comes in...

Default van karman vortex

check this out... this may be your answer!

http://www.nationalcycle.com/catalog...ream_FLH.shtml

I forgot what those vortices coming off the corners of the windshield were called, and then I remembered this site. I had one of their windshields on my Honda ST1300, and it was incredible. It might not be the best looking, but it sure does work as advertised....

Yep, Cee Bailey's 14 inch here. If I had it to do over I'd get the 15. Way smoother ride than the stock shield and wayyyy better than the Street Glide shield.

make the deal and jump on a plane and ride that sucker back by way of a non interstate route and you'll be all ready for your 1K miler when you get home. I did 13 hours to Nashville to get my bike last Sept. I'll even pick you up from the airport in DC or Baltimore.
Thanks for the offer. A fellow member on here who just bought a scarlet red, gave me a lead on one he saw last week. They were closed today, but gonna call them in the morning. I hate how dealerships hardly ever list their current inventory of new models. Almost have have a list of used, but never knew.

Appreciated man. Here a month ago the denim black RGC were really hard to come by. By searching now, I think they are slowing coming out to the different dealers. I just its soon, so I can get some miles on before the snow starts falling.

I usually only get bad buffetting when there are cross or side winds on a windy day, other than that no issues and the helmet makes it worse.. Keep kiding, go out on a day that isn't quite as windy or try to ride into or away from the wind, the wind created by riding shouldnt cause too much buffetting, it the side wind and regardless of bike, windshield or not you're gonna at times have buffetting..
