Many of you have said similar things, so I'm not just picking on this member, as much as just responding to this sentiment. What don't you guys understand about the buffeting complaint? Nobody is saying we shouldn't have wind! But we don't want turbulent wind, i.e., buffeting. Buffeting rips glasses off, pulls on helmets, drowns out your tunes. Buffeting on a touring bike is LAME and is to be blamed on the engineers that designed the bike. Quit telling us to buy cars. If you don't understand buffeting, don't respond to the thread.

Default what does buffeting mean?

I guess the word buffeting means different things to different people. Where I come from it is used as a noun to describe a place you can go and get as much as you want to eat..plate after plate; as in "hey yall lets go buffeting"

I wear ear plugs on the hiway. And that's just because of the wind noise. I love my RK, sorry to hear your having probs. It's all in the shield!

You guys are scaring me from buying a street glide. I love my heritage and the looks of the SG has me hooked. Am i going to hate the SG? Just getting ready to sell the heritage.
I am only 5'7" so am i going to have much problems. I test drove the SG for couple miles and i think a slightly taller shield is needed, not use to all the wind in the face with small windshield.

Go rent one. I did, and bought a RKC. Just didn't like the idea of a fairing on 100% of the time. I am getting a detach fairing for my RKC, but it comes off when I want it too. The SG is a perty bike, just not as versatile as the King.

I rode a 2010 Road Glide a while ago. I went in to buy a new bike to have the tunes, the longer bike and reduce the exhaust heat over my 07 Road King Classic. I came home with money in hand. I didn't like the bike at all. They have secured the motor to the point there was no shake at all, it sounded like a Gold Wing and the faring being stationary seemed odd. It didn't come with front or passenger back rests, it needed a different windshield and the seat was worse than my RK original seat. It would have needed $2000.00 in aftermarket parts to bring it up to my bikes accessories.

I love my batwing, I don't know what all the fuss is about. I went to a 7 1/2" right after I bought it and never looked back. I typically drive 75-80 on the freeway, oh and I'm 5'11".

Sounds like more people should do what you did and be honest with themselves on a test ride. RG ugly. SG badass. I own a RG cause the ride was right for me.
