I have the 550 and now am using the 660. I think the 550 is easier to use on the motorcycle because of the buttons but I will probably think different after I get used to the 660. It was eaier to get to the trip computer pages on the 550, but I proabably need ot sit down and practice on the 660. One thing I do like is the speed limit sign on hte 660.
I bought the HD Zumo 660 just before my almost 5K trip from Dallas, Texas to Bangor, Maine and back. It worked great, and saved me a lot of stops to look at maps, etc. I removed the center bag of my three bag dash unit on my Ultra and mounted it there with some RAM mount parts.
I put the non-HD 660 on earlier this summer before a trip to Yellowstone. It worked great, and had no problems with rain and hail. I used a HD auxiliary 12V power supply, and saved the lighter plug for a future project. Put a spade connector on the end of the Garmin power cord, then ran the power cord under the console to plug it in. It now runs off the auxiliary switch on the console. I used the supplied RAM mount, and it's perfect.
Just bought my RoadTech 660 last week.. going on a 2,000 mile trip to Big Ben shortly...well give you a newbie review after.. I bought the Garmin handlebar mount rather than one of the Harley's.. will let you know how it works...
I am in Dallas. Just did Bjg Bend a month ago. Hot, dry, and lots of rattle snakes. Not much around there. Oh, also had a scorpion in the shower!
As far as the GPS, I just ordered a Zumo 550 and will get it this week, I wanted the option of the XM even though it's an expensive option. The 660 does not have this.
Just got back from Big Bend.. The Zumo 660 worked great.. and with
the tunes made it even better. Had been running a Ipod.. but like the
Zumo MP3 player better. Orig. set up the Zumo down between the bars...
but seemed too far away and had to look down... Got the Zumo OEM RAM handle bar mount rather than one of the HD's.. this installed it over a foot closer to my eyes and higher closer to normal line of sight,,besides a couple of learning curve problems i was really impressed... glad I got it...Really great in getting thru towns your not familiar with..
