Default Bub 7 Stealth

Well I finally completed project Quiet Harley...lol. Seriously I don't mind some noise, but I was tired of pushing the bike down the driveway before starting so I don't wake the kids...driving through residential streets scared I'm pissing someone off. That and the fact I wanted to wear ear plugs on the highway, not from wind noise, but the pipes.

So I switched my muffs on my Bub7 true duals to the stealth muffs. Wow big difference...I'm happy so far, havn't had a chance to ride it yet though. It's quiet like stock, maybe a little louder, but with a deeper tone. I miss a bit of the bark I had before when gettin on the gas, but at the same time I'm happy about that too.

They are better looking as well, larger diameter. I'll try and post some pics tomorow, and hopefully I'll get a chance to ride it a bit more as well.

Well I love the stealth. It's nice to be able to ride and hear the wind and the bike again. First impressions have me feeling more lowend and mid power than I had before, but that could also be because I'm cranking the throttle more now that it's quiet. I'm not afraid of pissing people off anymore. There is still a bit of rumble, but I would describe it as being much softer, no edge to the tone.

Here are a couple of crappy phone pics of the regular bub7 and and the stealths. The Stealths are larger diameter and really look nice.

I been looking for something a bit more quiet. My Sgt gave me a hard time about my pipes. This might be a god route to go

is it really any of his business? i understand he has to make sure that you are following all of the required safety regs, etc. but i don't think your pipes are any of his business...

I meant it might be a good route to go. Type there.

My Sgt is big on vehicle/motorcycle equipment violations. I dont think he would give me a ticket but I do get a hard time about it.

I am seriously considering these. I want something with better sound than stock, but not much louder!

If anyone has a camera and the time, I would love to see some videos of before and after with the following in them:

1. Idling, walk around the bike, then blip the throttle a few times.
2. Cameraman on the side of road, bike goes by and gets on it hard
3. Cameraman on the side of road, bike cruise by at cruising RPM

well, unless he's an mp, he couldn't give you a ticket anyway. next time he gives you any grief about your pipes being too loud, ask him how loud were they? and how loud can they be? i'm sure he wouldn't be able to answer at least one of those, if not both.

i did 21 years in the military and one of the things that always got my goat was people who would overstep their authority. yes, you do have to obey 'the orders of those appointed over me', but its the arbitrary bs that always got me.

so, if he cannot produce the standards of how loud they can be, and some type of testing equipment (within calibration of course), and the standards for testing, then he has no leg to stand on. the periodic vehicle inspections do not have any provision for volume, just for whether or not the exhaust system is there, and intact.

so whats your rank and mos?

Good news. The big brown truck is delivering mine tomorrow. Unfortunately, it's supposed to rain here for the next few days.
