What about the stupid signs that say.. " If you didnt get a receipt, you may not have paid for your purchase" What kind of bullshit is that..? If I put my card in and the pump works.. I paid for it as far as I am concerned...
Heard about a fellow who used his card at the pump. When he did not get a receipt, he pulled off. Two miles down the road he was stopped by the police and drug back to the gas station because he didn't pay for his gas. After much arguing, they finally pulled the register info and found that he did in fact pay for his gas with his credit card. New clerk jumped the gun, saw him pump and drive off, and thought he didn't pay. If he had had his receipt on him there would not have been a problem. So now I always get my receipt, even if I have to walk in and get it, and I always let them know that the reason I pump my gas with a credit card is so I won't have to come into the store...
It annoys the hell out of me too. Just the other day as a matter of fact. I also use the receipts for gas mileage plus to log them in my check book. I always have a pen with me and write the info on another receipt that is already in my wallet. I'm not going inside, if I wanted to do that, I would have the first time!!!
Maybe it's a regional thing. In NJ there is no self service (but gas is cheap) and anytime I ride out of state, the pump pre-authorizes the card. No way to pump without paying. As far as mileage goes, I just remember the numbers and do the math in my head if I really care enough to. I'm not that **** that I have to check mpg on every tank.
