Just my .02, but had a full Memphis Shades on my last bike, got a bug and traded it out to shorter boulivard model and regreted it. I wear a shorty helmet with riding glasses and with the tall shield, I was able to ride without glasses. With the shorty, no such luck..... and my contantly teared from the wind. This time with my new bike, I went back with the full shield and am much happier. Like I said, just my .02.

Got a short (for hot weather) and tall (for cold) from these guys - great price/service. Is wider and helps deflect the air near the grips.

..., but I'm worried about buffeting/noise increase since my head will then be fully exposed. I wear a full face which I figure will help reduce that, but wanted to see what others' experiences were.
While a lower windshield may obviously result in more wind and noise, it can actually also decrease buffeting depending on your height in the saddle. On my FXDCI, I had a medium height shield and at 60+mph, I would get double vision due to the buffetting. If I took it off, the air hitting me was cleaner - more wind but no buffetting. Of course, I had no weather protection at that point but since I too wear a fullface, it wasn't that much of a problem.

I agree with other, you want to look just over the shield. With me, it depends on how straight up I sit. Just for kicks, I ordered a dark smoked 10" off ebay. Alot cheaper than HD prices. It is supposed to be 6" shorter than stock. I have also ordered a Clearview medium, should be here in about a month for 2 up riding. It might be too tall for me. I am 5'10" and the stock shield is perfect for me but passenger get too much air, she sits about a head height taller than me. I will update with my opinions later.

I'm obviously in the minority, but I prefer to look through the w/s on my RK. Just more comfortable to me. I'm 6'1", and have a Sundowner seat. If I get hot, I simply open my knees to the breeze.

I didn't like looking through my polarized glasses and the windshield, so I cut mine down 3". It was really a snap. I don't get any bueffeting. If you have all the stuff, it takes about tenm minutes and looks "factory" when done correctly. There are directions by Billnourse somewhere in the technical postings. However, if I had it to do over again, I would only cut it down about 1" below my line of sight. I now get a bug on the head occasionally.
