I am researching these bars to replace the 07 RKC stock bars. The part numbers, respectively, are 56623-99 ($70.00) and 55954-00 ($80.00), plus a switch extension connector, 70198-07, ($70.00) for the RK High HB. Spoke with a parts dealer here in Pensacola who explained the mod for the RK High HB is dependent upon the location of the stock connector. The Heritage Softail Classic requires no modification. About a two hour install at the dealer ($80.00 hour.) The Heritage seems to have a wider width and angled more. The RK High has a closer width. The dealer likes the RK High HB. He did say, the angle of the bar affects wrist position.
I have the RK High bars on my 08 RKC and even with ABS I changed nothing but the bars. 2" taller and 2" back. Perfect wrist position and now I sit upright instead of leaning over the tank. Did it myself and it's a piece of cake.
With a pre 08 you should be in even better shape. No internal wiring to deal with. I highly recommend these bars. Had em on for over a year and 2 two week 3K+ mile trips on them and love them.
Be happy to help with any info you need for the swap.
Don't let em tell you, you need wiring extensions, you do not. The wires fit with room to spare. The bars are a tad narrower but taller. It's a very relaxed position.
I went with the police bars on my King and no more pinching back pain between the shoulder blades.
Holding them up to a pair or regular Heritage bars, they look almost the same except for they are about an inch shorter across the end of the bars, tip to tip.
Police bars part #56569-86 $57.00
2 hrs labor @ $75 per. About $215 total dealer installed. No cables, wiring extensions or extras.
FYI, have them leave the headlight apart, and test fit the position of the bars. If they aren't comfy, have them roll 'em forwards or back til they feel right.
Easier to have them check it before putting it all back together, than you taking it apart at home.
I put the High Bars on my 05 with no other modifications. Just a slight bend in the brake line. I used to find myself riding with one hand to get comfortable, but with the High Bars I never even think of riding with one hand.
I wound up putting Heritage bars on my RK Custom. Couldn't deal with the beach bars. My hand was going numb.
To tell the truth, I didn't look at the RK high bars though. I liked the feel of the heritage bars. They brought my arms up and out, I'm sitting straight and best of all, no numbness.
