Spend the Money Now if you can and buy a Ultra Classic /we saved our money and bought a New Anv 2002Classic we sold it and bought a Ultra Classic now we have cruse intercome 4 speakers /cheaper to buy one ready to go !!
Three years ago, I wanted to buy a Streetglide. Convinced myself that the EGC was the better value so I bought it. If I hadn't totaled it out, I'd probably still have it. Last October I went to buy another one, but ended up with a Streetglide instead. I'm much happier cuz that's what I wanted in the first place. Yeah, it cost me a few bucks to add a detachable tourpack, but I hardly ever use it. The ride is NOT that much different than the EGC. The shock is 1" shorter, that's all.
Had an '03 Super Glide which after 6 years no longer suited my needs. Doing more touring, less day stuff... Sold it.
Took delivery (yes they delivered) of my '09 EGC on July 4th. Love it, love it, love it! I really had no use for the intercom, CB, the lowers or the rear speakers so never went for the Ultra. I can add more rear lights if I wish for a lot less than a couple of grand. Have over 2,000 miles on it and looking for more. Thought of making the tour pak removable but now will not do that. Use it all the time. Get off the bike to hit the bar or restaurant, lock the helmet and jacket inside it and away I go!
Great choice and value on EGC no looking back for me. Like others said wait awhile before you decide detachable hardware on tour pak I thought I wanted to also but having second thoughts !
I don't think that I could live with out the tour pak. Dam you would not believe the stuff the wife and I keep it. Some guys think that it is heavy and effects handling. It is neither heavy or effects any thing. Its the best thing they ever put on a bike.
They cause more divorces than any other bikes, you will spen the wifes make up money, start saving your beer money for parts, then disappear for days at a time.
I would just admit you are getting old and go for the UC limited and be done with it, you will have to put a docking attachment to make the tp detachable if you want the SG look. The SG sits lower so it does look a little cooler, but I have read about it bottoming out. Tough call, I would ride them all then pick and choose what you like best. I went in to buy a RG and left with a UC.
X2 went in for the 2010 RG and took home the 2010 UC
If i would've got a UC i would've took the lowers off right away but other than that i wish i could've afforded the UC but the Classic makes my day. I woud never think about taking the tourpak off.
