Hello everyone, I finally decided to almost buy a egc. I don't know much about baggers all I know is that I'm tired of bungeeing stuff to my sissybar. The street glide is really nice but I would rather have a quick detach tour pak than have to spend $1000.00 on one to put on the sg. The egc sits the same height as my 07 wideglide. Is there something I should be aware about these bikes? Is the motor rubber mounted or solid? Thanks, Bill.

Reason: new question
They cause more divorces than any other bikes, you will spen the wifes make up money, start saving your beer money for parts, then disappear for days at a time.
I would just admit you are getting old and go for the UC limited and be done with it, you will have to put a docking attachment to make the tp detachable if you want the SG look. The SG sits lower so it does look a little cooler, but I have read about it bottoming out. Tough call, I would ride them all then pick and choose what you like best. I went in to buy a RG and left with a UC.

Yep the motor is rubber mounted as with all of the touring family. Save your money on the quick detach. Once you start using the tour pak, You probably won't ever take it off,and then there is the issue of having to relocate the radio antenna, plus a nice place to safely store your tour pak while it is off of the bike. I do think the bike does look better without a tour pak, But I just don't think I can do with out it now. Oh well I guess I am a full fledged Geezer now.
Come on over to the dark side!!! Ride a while with tour pack, then decide about making it detachable. You will find it very handy place to lock your stuff. holds 2 helmets, with room for other goodies too.
+1 EGC is the best bang for the buck. The EGC will ride smoother than the Street Glide, and as for the tour pack, I go through moods....fast on/off option. It's a good winter project. However, I suggest riding a while with it. As someone said, you just might get addicted to having a trunk for your goodies.
I just purchased the EG limited august 22nd, i have almost 2000 on her already....its true...you will disappear for days at a time...LOL......i love mine great bike and i too would also say forget about the removing the rear tour pack......once you see what life is like with it....you will never go back.....
Whatever you get....enjoy it and good luck in your decision.....
