Cool Check Spark Plugs

Getting ready for my trip to Reno then Las Vegas , I changed all my oils to Red Line.

Then I thought what the heck, change my Spark Plugs:
7,000 miles cheap tune up $9.00 for stock HD plugs...

The Gap from factory was set at .30 - calls out for .38 - .43 geeezz

Any way new plugs set at .40 and yep, bike runs like it got some new tenny's :-)

Anyother cheap tune up tips ?

You noticed an improvement when you changed the plugs?

More likely the proper gapping made the difference unless the plugs were extremely fouled.

Isn't .38 to .43 a big spread? My '01 calls for .40.

How many miles on the bike? Spark plug wires should be done at 20k. Stick with the stock HD wires, dont waste your money on the SE wires.

As far as plugs go be careful with aftermarket plugs that have irridium coatings the Ion Sensor (Knock Sensor) doesnt seem to care for these types of plugs.

I could not disagree more; I put the SE 10mm Phat Wires on my 08 SG and could instantly tell the difference…. Breakdown and spend the $20.00

Default Miles Plugs Wires

Bike only has 7,000 miles - HD had the wrong Gap settings - good thing I checked

Stock HD Plugs $3.49 each cheap tune up - could not spend the $15.00 for the SE, as I change out my plus to often away

Wires , my buddy went with the 8mm , he to did feel a diference , maybe the extra $ 20 is what he felt ?

Plug Gap .38 - .43 is called out in my 2009 manual -I was surprised

Sumax plug wires are better than anything Harley offers. Not cheap, but way better. Check em out.

Default Plug gap

Believe it or not the plug gap does make a performance and mileage difference. Running this down the track at 9.20 in the quarter you notice anything that makes a difference.
