I just sold my 01 Roadking and bought a 2006 Ultra. My RK had Vance and Hines true duals on it. I rode the Ultra home today with the stock pipes and felt like I was baking. RK didn't seem like it got so warm. Looking to put duals on the Ultra. What brand are people running that are happy with them. I liked the V&H but looking for other opinions. Thanks.
The '06 (which I have) has a cat in the right side pipe, which accounts for a lot of the heat. Get rid of that, and it will change a lot. Been there, dont that.
Rush True Duals are ceramic coated inside and outside. they say their ceramic process drops about 200-300 degrees off stock pipes. my father in law has them and says their great. thinkin bout getting some myself.
I think any kind of true duals will drop the heat off of your junk versus stock -- I noticed it a lot when I went with my Rinehart TDs on my '06 Ultra (that I'm real happy with BTW). I didn't know about the ceramic-lined variety that bubbleb mentions. That's interesting.

Who told you the 06 UC had a cat in the right side pipe. I've had my 06 new Aug 05 one of the first for 06 and never had anyone making that statement.
No one had to tell me....Get down on your hands and knees and read the side of the right muffler, which is clearly stamped. Or, look in a Harley wish book for '06 replacement pipes and see what it says. Or take your mufflers off and look in the inlet end. The right side has a fine mesh Cat.
From the 2006 Parts catalog, page 539, item 80463-06, Item B: H-D Catalyst Mufflers for Touring Models: Mufflers are 49 state street-legal Fits '06
Item 65259-00 Fits 99-05 49 state models, and are not cat equipped.
The '06 special muffler was a one year fix to pass EPA in 2006. The '07's had the oxygen sensors, which eliminated the need for the cats in the 49 state models until 2010.
