Default Anyone used/heard Vance and Hines quiet baffles?

I have an 06 SG. Right now I have Vance and Hines Big Shot true duals. I have the Big City Thunder quiet baffles in them. I am not thrilled with the sound. I wouldn't mind it a bit quieter. But they sound raspy (not sure how else to describe it?) I would like something with a deeper tone. Cheapest route right now would be Vance and Hines quiet baffles. But I never heard them? I am wondering if they would give me a deeper quieter tone?
I heard a SG the other day with a D&D 2 into one. At idle it sounded nice. Still not sold on the look? I listen to a few different pipes on utube. I think the more I look/listen to videos, the harder it gets. lol.
Suggestions?

My Big Shot duals were more tinny with the quiet baffles than with the BCT QQ baffles. They really wore me out on the highway... nothing quiet (or deep/throaty) about them. IMO, the BCT baffles were deeper sounding, but still pretty loud. I actually replaced them with the FatCat with the quiet baffle. I wasn't sure about the look either, but like it a lot now. And the sound is a nice deep rumble.

Thanks. I am glad I asked. I was going to go order the VH quiet baffles tomorrow. I liked the D7D that I heard. He had the phantom pipe. Not too sure about that either.

I have an early set of Big Shot Duals (got 'em in Jan. '07) with whatever baffle came in it. They are moderately loud but a decent sound to me and my buds. Another guy got a set this summer, totally different sound. They are obnoxious. Way loud and kinda poppy. Eight of us went on a 2500 mile trip in July, nobody wanted to ride near him, they told me my bike sounded fine. his totally drowns out a real healthy 95' with a Thunderheader. The guy with the obnoxious Big Shots looked into my pipes and said my baffle looked totally different than his. He did order the quiet baffles but he's out of town now so I haven't heard it. The only difference I know of is his are black by V&H. Mine were originally chrome and I had them done black before installing them in '07. Maybe I can sell him mine and get a 2 into 1. Mine did dyno amazingly well though. 103 gets 97 ft. lbs. of torque at 2700 r.p.m. at over 5000 ft. altitude.

I had them on my Superglide with Big Shot Staggered.

My wife has them on her Heritage with the true dual set up.

The quiet baffles reduce the sound level at idle slightly. Under throttle they still produce some sound, not a real significant reduction from the stock baffles. They do allow for more noise reduction rolling through a neighborhood at low speeds.

The biggest differences between stock and quiet is the quiet produce a deeper tone. More of a feel it in your chest type sound.

The quiet baffles do need to break in. For the first thousand miles or so they seems to have a sharp snap to them. Once they settle in you get a real nice chug sound from them.

We have both been very happy with the set ups we have/had.

I like the sound of the D&D. Just dont know if I could get used to the look? I just was a quiet deeperthroaty sound. How can something so simple be such a pain?

I searched on utube for the quiet baffles. Nothing good on there.

Here's mine with the quiet baffle. I have the Andrews 26 cams installed and have had since the pipe was put on. I can imagine that stock cams may sound a little bit milder. The main reason I skipped the ghost pipe was the $300 price tag. Also, if it weighs as much as the real muffler I wouldn't want the extra 25 lbs hanging on there slowing me down...

Don't know if this will help, but, a while back I had Big Shots installed on my girl's Softail Deluxe (now gone) and I had the dealer order/install the Quiet Baffles in them because all the other Big Shots I heard all had that hollow echo sound. You know, all pipe and no motor. The dealer had never even ordered a set before. The Quiet Baffles took away all crackling and left the deep tones. They sounded WAY better than any of us had anticipated. Made my Road King sound like a wet fart by comparison.

Depends on your taste of course. Give me a nice low rumble any day compared to the crackle that some pipes give. Like, dare I say it, Rinehart's. Rode behind three baggers this past weekend with Rinehart's on them and damn that's an annoying sound. The more I hear them, the less I like them. Sounds like 2x4's being slapped together. Funny thing is, each bike was a different build, a stock 96, a stageII 103, and a CVO 110, and they all sounded like crap. Want the low rumble? Give the baffles a shot, the price is reasonable enough. Loud and in your face? Leave them out.

Best of luck!
