Sorry, I also think think your getting your ***** in a wad over something little. If he can't get the parts sent elsewhere for warranty work then go to them. Other wise live with it!
Anyway after I drove it up on the trailer I noticed a couple of very small sratches way down towards the lip of the rear fender trim
I,M VERY FUSSY and made sure the dealer new it .
Exactley how small of a scratch are we talking like dug into the pain or like the faint swirl scratchs you get on a tank and have to buff out..???
You did say you were fussy but man a bike is to be enjoyed and not give you a stroke or heartattack.
They are not going to let you do the work and you will have to take it back to them more than likely unless you really bitch and **** and they warranty it to a local dealer and pic up the claim.
Iam fussy as well but my 07 got alot of scratchs on it thats going to happen when you ride as much as i do but if its a big gouge in the paint id be pissed to
Give them a chance. After buying a new Hd you always get a dealer survey in the mail. It's very important to a good dealer that you give them the highest rating in all categories. Talk to the owner and bring this up. I think they will have a remedy for your problem.
Not to be pr*** but I am fussy and my 2009 didnt leave the dealership until I went over EVERYTHING with a fine tooth comb, MINE... paint, trim, engine, hoses, wheels, it all went through MY eyes before it left the building. I would think if you went that far to pick it up why didnt you get the chance to look at the bike VERY closely before it went out the door.
Now having said that, sorry for the issue but I would think they should stand by their word and send someone up there to pick it up and get it back to the dealership to fix it.
Put on your big boy panties and suck it up. Your gonna need to make a return trip once you get to the owner.
First of all a scratch is not a warranty issue. It's a shop policy issue and the dealer will be covering the cost. The initial statement about warranty was smoke being blow up your butt. Why would the MOCO cover a scratch? This would have happened during the dealer assembly and pre delivery inspection.
My dealer scratched my tank during the 1000 mile service. I buffed it out and worked them for a rear rack. What's the big deal?
Geezz... Buy some touch up paint....Learn to use a buffer, make this a positive thing.. Calm down enjoy your new ride... It aint gonna be brand new forever.
The reason they want you to come back is they do not want to pay another dealer to fix it. You went there for the Deal you got. They probably made less money than normal and do not want any more charges against this deal. When you take it back they are probably just gonna switch it with another bike and hope the next guy aint so FUSSY or just misses it. Depending on the cost of the affected part and the fussiness of the next guy, this cycle could happen more than once too.
