+1 A good lesson for everyone. Its something to consider when shoping around out of town for a bike.
+ 1 I have four dealers within 50mi of my house. I chose the suburban location for purchase / parts.
The trip to the downtown Houston dealers could suck at the wrong time of day.
If you couldn't see the scratches inside the shop, how deep could they be? The clearcoat was probably just scuffed. I'm suprised they couldn't just buff them out when you were there. And it sounds like he's trying to work with you though. Give him a little slack. It'll work out. It's not like you're the only customer with a gripe. Chill out. You have a killer bike...
Shoot. Wait till gets to the front cupping tires, the 5th gear whine, the seat is too wide and uncomfortable, heat coming from the rear cylinder or any other of the common complaints we hear from 09 owners....
He is sales manager Ive been talking to and made the deal with ..
I did talk to the owner once and hes the one that gave me the price ..
Guess I may have to ask for the owner next ??
I would speak to the general manager and/or the owner. As difficult as it may seem, try and remain firm: don't allow your emotions to dominate the conversation...stick to the facts. Most reasonable and lucid people will understand your dilemma, and your frustration. Many of these sales people are chimps...they don't have the ability to apply critical thinking to a problem, nor do they have the desire to go the extra mile for a customer whose check is already cashed. They have already moved on to the next guy, or are looking for something shiny to play with...
Good Luck!
If that fails, you can lodge a complaint with HD corporate. It may not result in a satisfactory (to you) result, but it may make you feel better.

Nice comment. Pretty broad brush you use there. I am sure with your critical thinking you would have flown out same day to fix, HUH?
I said NFW am I driving over 650 miles round trip plus tolls , gas , day off work etc.
You're whinning about taking a 650 mile road trip on the bike? Did you buy the bike to sit in the garage or what? If you want I'll ride it over there for you and get it fixed...I'll even take a day or two off work to do it.
At least if you plan to do any riding on it.
You will NEVER keep it perfect if you use it.
