First, I think you need to put the Starbucks down. Now, I am wonderiung why you took the bags off, was it really because you didnt want the bags to get dirty, are you ever planning to ride the bike or keep it on a pedestal in the living room or something. Other than that I think you have a good excuse for a nice ride.

Bought my 08,checked it all out, looked fine brought it home, couple of days later my daughters boyfriend sees a dent in the front fender, called the dealer they replaced it, no questions asked, its only a bike, why have a heart attack over it,you should've never taken it till it got taken care of,its a dealer screwup not a MoCo warranty problem. With time you will have more scratches than you think, some of those scratches will be done by your wife getting on and off, will you divorce her for doing that?have a heart attack? or just ride and have fun.You should've bought local, sometimes its worth to pay a bit more and stay close to home.Just my .02.

Default getting it dirty

and if your worried about getting it dirty trailering it there, cover it up with a tarp...
sorry couldn't resist.

You need to take an easier approach to life my friend. These are toys that do get dirty, scratched, and chipped. I got a buddy who is **** as $hit about his ride and well he is **** as $hit.

I know it sucks, if I remember right (from all your previous posts) you went to this dealer because you were having trouble finding a 09 in stock close to you?

If it was me, I'd put about 700 miles on the bike, schedule an appointment for the replacement part, make the trip, while there get your 1000 mile service and your good to go. It will be a great oportunity to get to know your new friend. She thrives on attention and the more you treat her like a trophy the more she will dislike you....dam there I go again with my wife/harley analogies

take care and ease off the emotional throttle

This, of course, makes good sense. It gets done and over-with with a little expense and maybe even some fun if it's ridden back home and the trailering left to a buddy or mate. This would provide a "shakedown" of sorts and a quick return to dealer if something goes south.

But - (and this is an observation) - there's a lot of bitxx'n about dealers here, yet this "suck it up" attitude just allows those dealers who sluff off things to keep on keep'n on sluffing.

Sometimes it just requires pressing buttons in that same "keep on keeping on" way.

Absolutely agree and I knew that it wouldnt be the second I ride it but for that moment in time at the dealership I wanted to be certain everything was the way I wanted it, my only chance for finding/fixing something that didnt meet my expectations was at that moment. After I took delivery its ride it and enjoy it, dents, dings, scratches and all!!!

No other dealer will fix an issue like that under warranty because the problem was from that dealer. You will need to have that dealer do it.
