Question Any performance difference between Ultra and Limited?

Hey, all you Ultra Limited owners,

I'm trying to make a decision between a new regular Ultra or the Limited. I read some reviews and they said that there was very little difference between the the two motors performance-wise. I was pretty much sold on the Limited till I saw the articles on it. I'm not a speed freak by any means, but I like getting the best bang for the buck too, and the Limited is quite a few bucks more than the regular Ultra.

Any opinions on this would be very greatly appreciated.

Which ever one I end up getting, I'll be leaving it factory stock.

Thanks in advance,

John

The Limited does bring more to the table than just the 103" motor. there are plenty of threads on here that list those differences. Now, if you are focusing just on the performance difference of the 103" motor, you can EASILY get better performance going with the 96" and doing your own engine mods (especially if you spend as much as the difference between the ultra and the limited)

I just bought a limited, and think it's worth the extra money. The 103 should put out just a few more hp&tq, maybe not even enough to tell seat of the pants riding. 7 more ci, little more compression. To get a good running limited, just add a cam, ac, and pipes. The limited compression is listed as 9.7 vs ultra 9.2, and limited has automatic compression releases.
A ultra two-tone lists for 21,999 then add security 370, abs 845, now you are already at 23,214. I like the ultra's two-tone paint, but like the limited's better. The titanium gauges look better to me also. Now, add big bore, heated grips, luggage rack, chrome accented rims, trunk mounted 12v power supply.
So, if you are comparing the vivid black ultra 20,999, it is a bigger difference. If you are going to do custom paint, or put a lot of money in a motor build, buy the ultra. It all depends on what you want, or your plans for the extras.
I hope to leave this bike mostly stock, and just ride it.
I just reread your post. If I was going to leave the bike 100% stock I would get the limited. Here is a pic of the new gauges.

Thank you very much for the replys.

Like I said in my original post - I will be leaving whichever bike I get completely stock. No mods of any kind whatsoever. I have done that with every bike I've ever bought, or else spent money returning the used ones to that configuration.

Thanks again for your responses and info.

Y'all ride safe,

John

I agree. If you're going to leave the bike bone stock, then get the Limited. More HP, and it has a better resale attraction. The Ultra Limited I saw at the local dealer was listed at $30k. Too much if you ask me. Might as well get the CVO.

My Denver dealer gave me a quote for MSRP + 8.16% tax with + a GPS module for free - $26,930 OTD. Sounds pretty good.

The regular Ultra is listed at $21k, so you're getting the 103 upgrade and everything else for $6k.

The reg Ultra starts at 21K, like you said, however the LTD starts at 24.7K, a difference of $3.7K, not 6K...everything else is $3700...

I agree, but take it one more step. The reg two-tone Ultra starts at 22k. That makes it 2700 for extras.

The deal I made = Ultra Limited in two-tone custom colors - $24,899 + 8.16% tax = $2031 + GPS module $0 = $26,930 OTD.

Got the same basic offer in an Ultra in two-tone custom colors - $22,199 + Tax = $1811 + GPS module $0 = $24,010 OTD.

Difference = $2920

There is absolutely no way I will ever own another black bike!

Thank you all again for all the replys, info and opinions! Anyone else out there is welcome to chime in!!
