Maybe they have a used one they would let you ride. There are 2 H.D. dealers in town,1 would let me test ride a new H.D. one would not.So I bought where they would, plus they were more willing to deal.Good luck.

Im 29 and love my glide. The stock shield will give plenty of wind in ur face. I personally think the SG ride is ok but have been told the 13" shocks ride better.

+1! That's rediculous they won't let you ride one. I went in to buy a sticker for my wife's vehicle and I was pounced on by a salesman while just "looking" at the new bikes. Just for chits and giggles I sat on a new RG and the guy asked me if I wanted to ride it. I said no, I just wanted to sit on the new frame to see what all the hub-bub was about. Gave me his card and said come back and ride one to see how they feel, if you want........ Find a new dealer.

As for the RK or SG predicament; consider your options with the RK. I'm opting for a detach fairing for long trips, only. The biggest thing I dislike about a touring bike is the size, and how I used to love jumping on my Softail to run to the store. Now I take my car. But that's just my feeling. They don't have the "bar hopper" feel, especially with a fairing on 24/7.

I had the same choice as you did. It's a tough one, but consider your riding style and the amount of real "touring" you'll do before you buy a fairing bike.

I just got off the phone with another Harley dealer, they told me not only can I test drive any bike they have I can also take it home and show the wife and keep it over night (WOW)!. Looks like they are getting my business even if their shop is 20 more miles from my home.
I drove over 3 hrs in the snow in Jan. to buy my bike at the dealer who gave me the best deal. Had to trailer it home, but oh well....

Lots of dealers do this. Test ride first and then when you think you like it rent it and put some miles on. Go in knowing that you will probaly change the seat and add a taller windshield.

I ride my SG to the store and all around town in traffic. It handles like a much smaller bike.

I have an 09 SG and love it. I sold my 1999 RK to buy this bike. The wind was a big problem. I went to a 6 1/2" KW Shield and for me the problem is solved. Love the bike alot.

Only 20 more miles? haha there is a dealer in my Town about 5 mins away but i wont even give them the time of day so i travel 20 mins on the tollway to my dealer.

hell the "stealer" in my city charges a dollar per hot dog, when at the same time the one 20 mins away gives them out free all you can eat and 3 free beers every saturday

Find out when one of your local dealers has the Harley demo truck coming in. Then you can test drive them all.
