I just took the stock air shocks off the wife's street Glide and put on 1 inch shorter progressives yesterday. I jacked the bike up just to take any pressure off the shocks, unbolted the right one then replaced it. Since it was shorter I slowly let the bike down a little on the lift until holes lined up tightened the bolts then lifted and did the same for the left side. If your not drinking and really taking your time you could drag this out for a hour with beer this could take 3 hours and at least a six pack! The extra time would just be for beer breaks!!!
Thanks to all. Am going to do it myself as soon as shocks arrive this week. I'll keep my cell phone on me in case I get pinned under the bike when it falls over on me. haha thanks again to all.
My god, we do tend to make things harder then they are. It's just four bolts and reattach the air lines and your done. Takes longer to jack it up then just changing them on jiffy stand.

...............................with the shorter Harley shocks get ready for one very rough ride.
Steve
I disagree. I changed the shocks on my RKC with SG shocks, a little over an inch shorter. No difference in ride quality, but the bike does handle better.

That's because you changed out one garbage shock for another. Put on a set of Progressives or even better if you can afford them, Ohlins.
