Default 107 inch build question

I was told about Chris Rivas by a guy I met at the Reno Street Vibrations last month. I checked out his web site and noticed saw he is offering a 107 build http://chrisrivasvtwin.com/crvts_003.htm

It seems to be very reasonable in price. I am very new to this sort of thing and wanted to get some opionions. I live about 2 hours away from his shop. Do you think this is would be a good way to go or should I pursue another route.

Do it. However, regarding that builder in which I know nothing about but for the sake of relaying info, I don't see cams and the goods to change them out in that quoted price, not to mention you'll need a tuner, A/C, and pipes. $$$

my bike currently has the D&D FatCat, PCV and the HD air filter. I will need to get another airfilter system though.

I'm not sure I follow the info on his site.... The link states 107 kit & cams "installed" for $2500. Cams are not named, so it's difficult to say how it might perform.

The "technical" link takes you to a 103 build that's closer to $4500. It also includes a tune, but no tuning device.

I have never heard of these guys, but I'm not out that way much either. They may be the best... I dunno.

One observation from the dyno section.... The 107 dyno sheet makes nice "peak" numbers, but the power is not in the RPM range you typically ride in:
Peak Torque: 114 @ 4500
However.... ~80 @ 2500
~90 @ 3000

Pay attention to the RPM range you "typically" ride in and see if this suits your needs.

I built an HQ98 several years ago that made 111 ft/lbs @ approx 2250 and stayed there till about 5k RPM.

You may wanna drop by and chat with them. You should be able to get a reasonable "feel" after an initial visit.

he was selling cylinder kits on ebay,he`s boring the cylinders on a bridgport mill, not a real good way to bore cylinders(if the quill to table is out .005 at the top,it`ll be more than .020 at the bottom of the bore).he dual plug heads in the same mill by tilting the head of the mill, then he trams the mill back to 100% straight to bore cylinders???!!!we dont use "whatever" to do machine work, seen alot of shops boring cylinders in lathes, mills or just honing .010,.020 or all the way to twin cam conversions,we(and any REAL harley machine facility) have the proper equipment to do the machining job.find a well equip shop that uses the proper equipment & machines to do the job RIGHT,or you`ll pay once for s**t work & pay again to have it done right,we`ve had to fix (or try to fix)motors that where not done properly by so called "machine shops"

Don't know anything about his shop but the guy is a great drag racer as he has won a NHRA prostock bike national event last year and was in the countdown to one last year.
