I just purchased a set of soft leather lowers and put them on my 2009 Road Glide this week. The instructions said not to use them above 50-degrees. I enjoy having them on in the morning when it's 40 + or -, but have been removing them for the ride home. They are easy to remove, they are just Velcro attached so it's not that big a deal.
Why is it that you can leave the hard color matched lowers on, but the leather ones have to be removed? The leather ones leave quite a large opening for air to still cool the engine.
