Default Rinehart Slip-Ons

Well i picked up one of the last sets of Rinehart slip-on exhausts that my local dealer had today. I currently have a 2010 Road Glide and knew at some point I would change it over to dual exhaust. I also knew that Rineharts was what i wanted and they were getting very hard to find (as noted on a few threads here it seems they have ceased production) Anyway i need a 2-1-2 header pipe and i asked my dealer if they could put the 2010 Electra Glide 2-1-2 on my Roadie and hook up the duals, he said sure. However he said that with the Rineharts my bike would need 3 hours of dyno testing....is this correct or a waste of money? Also any advice on the 2-1-2 header options are welcomed.

With just the Rineharts I don't know why he would say you needed a dyno tune unless you were putting on a new high flow air filter and a SERT or PC, because its not needed with just pipes. I would only dyno tune the bike if you decided to add a SERT and a new breather, but if not, I think you are getting a line of BS for the good of the dealership. Unless they are offering you a great deal I would just put the slipons on now, then add a PC and breather later.

BTW I like my 2-1-2 header with the Rineharts, great sound and performance.

He's full of it. No tune needed for slip-ons, especially if you're running the 2010 head pipe with catalytic converter...

I installed Rineharts and an S&S aircleaner 2 weeks after I brought my SG home and have never had an issue with popping. I am considering adding a Power Commander just to get a little more out of it.

mccollde, if you put just the slip-ons on your bike, after about 50 miles, check your plugs. If the plugs are white and powdery, you're running too lean and will need to get your bike tuned. You'll probably have some backfire on decel also. If they are a light tan then you don't need the tuner and your fine with just the slip-ons. Some bikes can run with just the slip-on's with no future problems and some bikes need the turner. It all depends on how lean your engine is running.
