How many of you guys running Rinehart slipons are getting a LOT of popping and backfiring with them? I've been putting up with this for about 5 months and it sucks! They sound terrible when going up through the gears backfiring between shifts. I've got a PC III installed with what my "indy" says is the correct map. I've taken the bike to three different dealers. The last time the head of service took my bike for a ride and said "hey, that's just how Rineharts sound". I have some friends with the same setup, and theirs DON'T sound like that. The bike has never been dynoed. I was told by the HD tech it didn't need it. My question is, do YOUR Rineharts do this? My bike is a 2007 FLHRC with Rinehart slipons, a PCIII, and SE air cleaner. I'm ready to pull them off and throw them in the trash. Should I get a dyno tune before I go crazy? I hate to think I'd pay $3-400 and still have the same thing.
Mine did not pop with stock headers which was dyno'd. They popped a little with the true duals, but after tuning it out I got rid of the pop. I still have a slight "girgle" on decel but I am told that's what true duals do.
Hard to say for sure. I had mine originally dyno'd because I put a big bore kit on along with SE intake. After deciding I wanted to put dressers on, and heavy breather, I bought the software needed to re tune it my self. It gets expensive having to dyno a bike when making changes. My suggestion would be to get everything you want on before paying for a dyno.
Hello,
Shortly after buying my 08 Street Glide I put a Arlen Ness Stage one intake, Python Slip-on's and a PCIII. I bought my PCIII from Fuelmoto and used the map they had for my setup but I too had the annoying popping on decel. In my case the problem was too lean a mixture at low RPM's at closed throttle. I just opened the map up in the Power Commnader software and added a small amount of fuel in the 0 throttle position column from 500rpm up to 2500rpm. I also played around with the map a bit and leaned it out in the cruising RPM range (2000rpm - 3000rpm) so I got a little better gas mileage. Now I have no popping and get between 38 and 44mpg depending on how hard I ride the bike. I'm very happy with how it runs now.
Just my 2 cents.
Take care,
Willie

This is the answer unless another map from Dynojet is closer to your setup, Fuelmoto helped me with a tune even though I bought that bike with the PCV already on it......worth a call, they are great guys.
