Default Question regarding upright... think I got the wrong one

I ordered the chrome standard height upright part # 52627-09 from an online vendor. I got an e-mail shortly after stating the upright was backordered. A few days later, I got an e-mail stating the package had shipped. When it arrived, the upright was packaged in with several other items I had ordered but was not in any sort of wrapper or packaging.

I got around to installing my four point docking hardware this evening. When I went to put the upright on the bike, it is too wide for the four point docking hardware. I'm assuming, unless by some major oversight on my part on the install of the docking hardware, that I got the wrong one.

I have an e-mail in to the dealership which I hope to hear back from tomorrow. For curiosity's sake, are the pre-09 uprights wider at the base than the new ones?

Thanks for any insight.

On the front attachment point of the four point, is the rubber part farthest away from the fender (that is, the chrome is next to the fender)? This is the correct way for the front attachment. Mine was on incorrectly, but my detachable tourpack still would go on, but the passenger backrest wouldn't....switched around the forward parts of them and voila...the backrest went right on.

The front part of the backrest slides onto the top of the shock mount. The rear pegs on the four point aren't used for the backrest. Hope this helps.

That was the ticket. The upright didn't come with instructions. Thanks!
