Minor Aesthetic question x 2 (RKC)
Two questions I can't seem to get answered:
Firstly, what are the "V" logo chrome accents that go on the painted portion of the Road King Classic body, just under the seat? Apparently they come from the HD catalog but I can't find them. Their name would help. A part # would rock.
Secondly, where can I get a authentic (or well-made imitation, if authentic is impossible) tank badges from the 50's or 60's? I tried ebay but it seems there are only a few, and only the arrows. I want the gunsights.
Is there no market for this stuff? Are all bikes either original oldies or new imitations? I mean, technically if HD has made the same exact chrome piece for the last 50 years, the 2010 one is as "authentic" as the 1960 one, but you know what I mean, right? Are parts that old really only a swap-meet commodity?
I'm having the same problem with a seat rail - seems there's either a horrid japanese version or one guy (the gas blender guy - a nice enough guy, don't get me wrong) selling. Don't more people have seat rails? Is this one guy (the gas blender guy ... have you seen that website? wow...) the only person getting seat rails out for touring bikes? Do guys buy the softail one and re-shape it?
Thanks,
-c
I think J&P sells the tank badges.
I friend of mine found the seat rails on ebay, don't know if they still have them, but sure looked good.
If it wouldnt leave holes in my side covers I would sell you my V logo things, I hate them.

I'm curious where those side cover accents are in the HD world ... maybe they're only available on anniversary bikes? Tmair -- why do you hate them? Do they brush the passenger's ankles uncomfortably? I can't tell how far the stick out.
Thanks again!
