RSTEKEUR... try taking off the top connection on your cable and flipping it 180 degrees, then reattaching. I read that on the forum when I first got my FLHTC and it worked perfectly. Now the cable folds into the tour pak when I close the lid.

these are sweet!

guess finding a correct size and weight is something one would need to look into. would'nt want it to blow the sides of the tourpak apart where it mounts up...maybe not a hatchback rod but ive seen small ones somewhere

Thanks I'll give that a try. It's just one of those little things that are a pain in the you know where

I have the ultra brace from eglidegoodies on my RG Tourpak and it works great. There's a picture here. Easy install. Lid stays open.

I did it on my 05 RK Tourpak. I orderd it from West Marine, Iboats or Defender (can't remember). I got one for my fiberglass dock box (it uses 2) as it has a larger yet lightweight lid. It never "self-opened" but it DID assit opening it, and KEEP IT OPEN until it needed closing. Cost was $29.00

Had the same problem with my 09 Ultra. Tweeked the upper ring to kick it in just a hair, and with a little training in now folds inside every time. Haven't tried that reversal trick posted here but sounds like it might work too.

$70 bucks for that...that's a little hard to swallow. I think I can hold it open for that kind of change. Looks like about $4.00 worth of parts.
