Choose manual or auto. I went through 4 starters on my 103 build. ACR would have kept it out of the shop when I would rather been riding.

I have fired it up to check for oil leaks or odd noises, no leaks and sounds good. No good weather in site-bummer.

Thanks for all the input.
Congratulations... you won't be able to wipe the smile off your face when you ride it... especially after it is broken in.

I have the ACRs and no problems yet, either way w/the 103 and cams you need them. Good riding!

UK, not sure I really follow.... If the pistons are to low, wouldn't this reduce compression? Does thst cause detonation?

Measure the deck height(it only takes 5 minutes) and set it with the proper Cometic gasket and you'll be golden.

NONE of these suggestions would inconvenience you or your builder. Simple "mods" to optimize your build.

I asked rhe dealer that did my 103'' build about the CR and they stated it was not required. I have had no issues with starting hot or cold. Could be I'm just lucky. If I pull the heads again it could be a good idea to install the manual CRs. A chromed high torque starter is $545.00 plus labor to replace a bad starter. Stock is 1.2 KW and the high torque is 1.4 KW so it seems to be a fairly thin line between the success / failure of the starters on the bigger bores.
