Default Question about primary adjustment

I have opened up and played with the primary chain adjustment and am stumped. I have the manual and it shows the front of where the adjustment is made but not the back. When I try to adjust it seems that maybe the back has bigger notches than the front and find that on one location to loose but next one up to tight. Is the back serated like the front or bigger notches. When adjusting it cold I feel that at the looser adjustment its pretty well at the max of the 7/8 of an inch but when on the tighter of the 2,.. I seem to think its 1/8 short of 5/8..Am I missing a spot in between or is this as good as it gets..If it is should I go for the tighter or looser of the 2..Does anyone have a pic of the backside of where the bolt secures and if not can anyone tell me whats on the back..Small ribs like on front or larger increments..And whats best..Looser or tighter if these are the 2 adjustments I can do..
