If your not satisfied, DYNO the bike, maybe your tune isn't right? Maybe you'll get more outta of it by tuning. Good luck with the new ride. My 06 king (carbureted) seemed alittle gutless until I opened it up with some smods but even stock didnt have any problems top end. Good luck!

Buy a GL1800 Gold Wing!! I can assure you that your problem will disappear. Not trying to be cute but I just bought an '06 Ultra and also have about 900 miles on it. I haven't had it over 3500RPM yet but it seemed to climb to 80+ fairly quickly. I was really torn about what I should do to the new Ultra because I know what a Gold Wing will do, which I'm keeping, by the way. Anyway, I just put Screaming Eagles on it and a Screaming Eagle air cleaner and let it rip. Will it even come close to the Wing in performance?? Certainly not. But then again I don't want to make a Honda out of it. As far as the ride, the comfort, the smoothness, the sound and most of all the looks, the Ultra is my choice hands down. I love the Wing but NOTHING takes the place of a H-D. Now, if it gives the kind of service I hope it will, I'll be satisfied. I know I've just been rambling and really didn't even touch your problem but when I posed basically the same thing to my friends that I could be from 70 to a 100+ on my Wing before a cat could scratch his rear end, they just said, "Well, either drop a gear or just slow down and let the others get out of your way." That's a thought!!
Bought my 06 Ultra in Orlando a couple of weeks ago and brought it to NY. No problem cruise controled at 85 on I 95, plenty of throttle left to pass most anyone.
I had the dealer do stage one, wasn't thrilled with the results so I took it to a custom shop and added V & C Ovals, Big Sucker Air Cleaner, Stealth Digital Fuel Optimizer had it retuned and it runs great. Have 3000 on it now and it rides like a dream.
Sure you need to run 100 mph. Especially when that semi will not get over as you need to merge onto the interstate.
I would take the bike back to the dealer. Stand firm on the fact that the bike is lacking power. Make them fix it. Make them run it on their dyno so you can have the facts.
I was not impressed with my 06 Ultra's performance either. Had SEII's pipes, SE AC and stage 1 download on it. Bought a PCIII and played with some canned maps. There was some improvement. Had it dyno tuned and added 8-10 HP. Really happy now. Cruses all day at 85. Will hit 100 in a split second. Really happy with this bike now. Heat is alot better also.

I don't do metric bikes... Nothing against them, just don't do them. I've had plenty of Harleys that will do the trick. Just sold an 04 SEEG. My point is that this bike isn't one of them... Got no use for a WING. If I wanted to talk about hondas I'd be on a honda forum...
Probably gonna take it in & get the PCIII dyno tuned... We'll see if that helps..
As with any bike, vehicle, whatever. None of them are the same. I've had a dozen or so Road Kings for my personal bike, and none of them were the same. The best one out of the buch of is an 02 with 45K that I just bought. I figured with that kinda miles, it would def. need some work. Heck it's quiter and smoother running than the one I have with 4K on it. Go figure? I think someone is on the mark when they say you need to take it back and have the service dept do something though. As far as the 07's go, let's turn back the clock to 1999 when the TC88 first come out. Anyone remember the cam bearing issue? Obviously HD is having some issues with some of the 06 bikes. They had worse issues with the first ones though. I think I'd try to get what I have dialed in and wait and see what kind of issues pop up on here for the 07's down the road.
You make a good point on the first year models, having sold an 03 6.0 diesel back to Ford I can do without that again. I've never had a problem selling any harley for at least what I had in it and that makes a first year model a little less of a risk to me.
