Dyno tuning the bike isn't the easy answer in every case!! Having owned two previous TC88s I knew there was a major problem with my newest toy ('06 FLTRI), but the service manager, who was eventually fired, acted like I was an idiot when I explained my problems. I won't repost my problem, but it's in this thread: Anyone else had this problem on a 06 ???. With a free flowing air cleaner and pipes I had the same problem. The bike ran like a pig (no pun intended). On some occasions (maybe 10-15% of the time) it would run correct and free spin to 5500+ rpm and haul my fat **** (all 220lbs) to 80-90, and probably over a 100 if I had wanted to, because I know this engine is capable of it (did it few time on the two other bikes). The other times the bike felt like it was struggling to get over 3500 rpm. Well, let's put it this way, I couldn't keep up with a honda shadow ace 750!! Long story short, the new service manager called me yesterday (2500 mile service and these issues) and said I could come get the bike until corporate opened on Wednesday. Then he wants the bike back so he can call them on my issues and possibly tear into the engine becasue he says there is something major wrong with the way the bike runs.
After you own a few of the same product you kinda know what to expect, and a $21000 sorry running bike wasn't it. Thank goodness this local dealer (only one within 80 miles) got rid of the sorry service manager and hired someone that was willing to listen and take care of the customer...you know the one that helps pay their salary!!
The first pic is the 04 standard I had and traded for the 06 Ultra... (second pic)
The standard at first ran weird, I took it back to the stealer and they kept it for two days and said they could not
find anything wrong, but when I picked it up it ran like a different bike... ????
Now the 06 is a bit different, It runs Great when the temp is below 90... above that and the computer keeps
trying to kill cylinders. has no power..(like the 04)
and it seem the fuel if it gets below a half tank it will run crappy...
Thinking of outting a true duel setup and the PC3 upgrade... we'll see...
Oh and I'm on the second radio...
display just blinks out...
