Manual Compression Release Failure

I just did a 107 motor have a compression release not locking shut when I crank the motor now. It takes e blipping the throttle to get it to shut. Anyone know what can cause the MCR to fail or not shut properly? Anyone have this happen?

It's just a little dirty. You can clean it or just blip the throttle. It's pretty common, and I wouldn't worry.

Mine does the same 1 out of 5 times. No biggie.

From: Log home in SE Michigan full time. Log cabin in east TN, Smoky Mountians part time

carbon / dirt build up...yep its common. Remove the release and spray brake cleaner or starting fluid in it to clean it. Reinstall and it will be fixed.

My rear cyl. does it once in a while.You can remove it and soak with PB Blaster or Tri-Flow.
