i've owned several HD's in the past and have used S&S products with good results. i see they have performance bolt ons for the EFI bikes similar to the other vendors here. does anyone have experience with the S&S bolt on package for the touring models i.e. the slip on performance mufflers, teardrop air cleaner and the EZFI tuning module. thanks
Purchased an S&S VFI engine management system thru a dealer that never returned calls concerning my questions, not many of their dealers know much about EFI. So attempted to get support directly thru S&S's on line tech support and then by phone many times. Tech answering phone usually not familiar with EFI and rarely got return phone calls from the person (I think Tom) that they would usually refer me to. Maybe different if you need low tech support, such as carbs and exhaust. Will steer clear of them in the future.
Always liked my S&S carb on my 92 Fatboy - but since then . . . Really not seen the need. Now if I were building a scratch bike and wanted a copy cat Evo engine for less $$$ but more built up - that would be another question. I think Harley has out maneuvered S&S with the Twin Cam which S&S can't copy because of patents (technical and design). Looks like S&S is trying to appeal to a borader customer base with metric products now.
I was going to use the S&S AC and cover but went with a SE through Fuel Moto, They told me (the S&S) would flow the same. As for the S&S slip ons they're just too big for my taste. Not sure how they sound or flow. You won't find to many S&S fans on here.
s&s makes many power producing parts .... for cosmetic appearance, thats your call...i know that my 96" evo s&s engine will out perform most of the twincam 96"ers.. 97hp and 111tq... JMO i think they usually deal with dealers /shops and not the general public
One here! Got an S&S 107 in my Glide, with their oval mufflers. The mufflers are stainless, unlike most of the opposition, nice and mellow without being too loud. If you want them quieter they do add-on 'quiet baffles'.
S&S make complete shovel, evo and twincam engines, plus their X-Wedge, plus tuning parts for them all.
I ran an S&S kit on my '05 Roadster (teardrop, slipons and rejet) and was pretty happy with all the components. Well made and good looking. I love the look of the teardrop a/c and just might put one on my RG. It also lets you run the breather vents outside the air filter so no oil vapor in your intake.
