Default Neutal lite

Yesterday had a strange thing happen and not sure if it requires attention..Was about 90 here in Calgary Canada and ended up in slow traffic for a bit. Noticed after being in stop and go traffic for 15 minutes that when I went to hit neutral, the light did not come on. I tried it about 10 times and could hit neatral but no light..When I got to the spot where I was to pick up wife I shut her down and had to wait for 10 minutes till she got off work..Tried power on and off..No light..Went to start her up and leave and then had neutral light..What the heck was this all about...Anyone..Also where is switch for this so I can check connections.??

I had the same issue one day. Next day it was on and had no problems ever since.

On my new RG, I noticed today that the neutral light didn't come on when I went to ride it back to work after lunch.

you may need to remove the neutral switch from the slider cover on the trans and clean it. then re-install it.

I agree. Same thing on mine a couple of times and tried cleaning it. Within a month of the first problem it failed completely. For the low cost ($18 I believe) I would just replace it.

It is on top of trans top cover. It is just a steel ball with spring type switch, it completes ground circuit when in detent. Take it out and clean it with brake cleaner and reinstall.

I had the same problem after a hard rain. I took it in the stealer and they said it's just a switch and switches can go bad. They had my bike for 5 days before I got mad and asked what was taking so long. The switch was on order and it would take another week to come in. I told them to put my bike back together and call me when it comes in. When I picked the bike up it was working and hasn't gone out again. It's been almost 2 months and the stealer hasn't called me yet.
