While on the subject of cats in the headpipe and all...I have a 2010 RG..I'm not crazy about the 2 into one and was thinking about trying to get a set of 09 exhaust for the 2010 RG.

Will these fit? I just assumed ( yeah I know) that the bikes 09 and 10 were the same....I'm speaking of the complete exhaust.

Yes, the 09 head pipe will fit the 10 RGC and SG.

Not exactly...the O2 sensors are smaller on your 2010 bike and will not fit in the bungs on the 2009 head pipe. The O2 sensor bungs are also in a different location on the 2009 pipe.

Ahhh, forgot about that, thanks for the correction.

Thought about that on my 2010 Street Glide. O2 sensors are bigger. I put a SE Nightstick pipe on and used a SERT with Smart-Tune, and SE Stage II kit. The Smart-tune software eliminates the need to dyno tune,(the cat actually prevents dyno tuning). Anyway, the bike sounds great, runs even better, and I couldn't be happier with the results.

Not exactly....I have the SuperTuner and you can certainly dyno tune a bike with a Cat. What you can't do is use the tail pipe sniffer to accurately measure AFR. Instead you use the bike's sensors. SmartTune is a great feature and I've spent a lot of time tuning with it already. However It's my opinion that its still not a replacement for a dyno tune by an "experienced and knowledgable" tuner (of which there are unfortunately too few).

From my perspective, SmartTune is an excellent tool AFTER you've had your bike dialed in by a tuning expert. Should you then change the head pipe or mufflers or baffles or a/c, then Smarttune would be an excellent option for adjusting your tuned map to accomodate the changes (instead of spending the time/$ on another dyno tune).

Don't get me wrong, SmartTune is a very neat feature and a significant advantage over previous RaceTuners, but it doesn't adress spark advance and therefore it is limited to making adjustments to fuel based on the AFR tables. It makes adjustments to the front and rear cylinder VE tables to deliver on the target AFR but it ignores timing.

Unless timing is being refined, you're missing out on an important component (possibly the most important from a performance perspective) of dialing in a bike's engine.
