Default 09 Head Pipe question

So I find an 09 head pipe on Kansas City Craigslist today so I go buy it. Got it home and the son of a bitch has a catalytic converter in it. WTF is this all about? The guy bought the bike new here in Kansas City. It has the bungs in a different location and they are bigger. The bungs are clear up by the cylinder head, is that correct for an 09? The only other thing I can figure out is his bike could have been a California Emissions bike but how did it end up in KC. The pipe has a part # of E5547298-10 stamped on it. Anyone know what that part # might mean? I cant very well ask for my money back but the whole point of finding an 09 head pipe was so I didn't have to gut the CAT.

Interesting.. I bought a used 2010 headpipe and cut the cat out and installed it on my 2010 Ultra. Big difference in heat radiating off the cat area of the headpipe.

If the bike is truly an 09 then it was either a CVO ultra, CA bike, or an international bike. The only bikes in 09 to have CATs

May have been a CVO Ultra. The '09 did not have cat's unless it was a California emmission model or CVO. My '09 has no cat.

wouldn't be suprising if some bikes designated for california ended up in some other state. prol a bunch of non calif riders riding around with cats in their pipes......

I saw the bike. It was definitely an 09. It wasn't a CVO. He had the SE 103 kit put on before he picked up the bike and he kept all the stock parts. My guess is it was a California bike and somehow got to KC. Just my luck to find the only Cali bike in the midwest.

dealers will trade bikes for color and options for specific customers? yes the 09 uses bigger bungs near the heads.not sure who but there are adapters out to fit the 10 02 senors into the 09 bung.

The wires are too short to run up to the 18mm bungs on the 12mm bung bikes.
