Beautiful Bike!!! I've had mine for over a month now and my smile hasn't faded a bit. I've really liked the Lava Red and it is still one of my favorite colors. While I was trying to decide on colors a friend told me that "there's no such thing as a bad color on a Road King". Ride safe.
My 05 RK has the standard windshield and I look over it with no problems. I am 6' tall.
Does the RK Classic seat sit lower?
I'm 5'9' and on the stock seat I have to either sit up perfectly straight to see over it or hunch down to look under it. When I do, it just seems like my view is distorted. I don't know if I just have to get used to it after having moved up from the Low Rider without a windshield. I'm putting on the HD Sundowner solo seat so I don't know if that will change anything. The weather has been too miserable around here to ride and find out.
something to consider....for me, when i had the stock seat, the top of the windshield was right there at the "break"....i had to crane my neck a little to see over, and hunch down a bit to see through. once i added the mustang seat, i was looking over it no problem. the mustang seat is a bit higher than the stock seat, so that solved my problem.
Congrats from one Lava Red RK newbie to another!! Hope you love it at least as much as I do.. I am over 6ft, so have not had any issues with the stock windshield. Finally had a chance to get on it again today, and I am proud to say we are 80 miles shy of 500 mile break-in period being over.
I have a solution to the windshield dilema - take it off!
That's what I ended up doing. I like the looks of it better with the windshield off. I think I'm only going to use it for really long trips to cut down on fatigue.
