Default For Anyone Considering Lowering

I have a 2005 Electra Glide Standard that needed lowering. My wife and I combined weigh in around 385. I also have a king size tour pak. I wanted to lower the rear 1" just to get my feet flat on the ground. I first tried a R.U.B lowering kit 1 1/2"...well with both of us it would bottom out the rear tire. I then tried a lowering kit from eglide goodies. It also bottomed out, only on the largest of bumps...railroad tracks for example. I then bought what I should have to begin with. Progressive 412's (12" / HD) With these set on the 3 or 4 setting we now ride without worry. Even on the largest of bumps we don't bottom out. For anyone considering the lowering option please make sure to evaluate your weight situation before wasting money on kits that don't offer the support needed, like I did. I will offer this...the two kits that I tried out were of good quality and for a person riding solo would be good options.

Default RE: For Anyone Considering Lowering

I ride solo. I weigh 185 (about 195- 200 with boots, helmet, etc.) and am 6"1" with 31" inseam. I ride an '06 Road Glide. I had the rear HD lowering shocks put in. Next to the stage 1 and Hogtunes its the best thing I could do for myself. Lowered the center of gravity, put my feet squarly on the ground and put the windshield at just the right height for me. Well worth the money.
