How do you remove the headlight cover? I tried looking it up in the owners manual, but all it talks about is adjusting the headlight. I want to replace the bulb, but am unsure of how to do it, and I do not want to mess it up. Thanks.
Remove the trim ring around the headlight, one screw. Once the trim ring is off there are 3 or 4 screws that hold the headlight assembly in. Be careful not to mess with the screw that are for the headlight adjustment. Zook
While you have the trim ring off, take a look at the adjusting screw brackets.
The day I brought my RK Classic home I noticed the top adjusting screw (up/down) did not move the light and the beam stayed adjusted to full down. When I looked at the adjusting screw and the bracket it screws into I noticed the bracket (plastic) had pulled away from the rivets which secure it in place.
The service manager said I would have to wait about a week to get it in for repairs. I didn't want to wait, so I pulled it apart and popped new rivets in and made it better than new.
Why can't HD give you a bike with the headlights and passing lamps properly adjusted? After having to tweak both my Heritage and RK Classic lights, I've come to realize they don't care as long as they point somewhat forward-ish.
