Switch adjustment tool

Switch adjustment tool
I need to raise my handlebars a little, but if I remove the switch in the lock position as stated in manual I need to be able to unlock handlebars to move to the right position. Is there any other way to unlock switch or am I heading to the Harley shop for a new tool?

just a screwdriver..only stick it about halfway down into the switch housing to realign the lock after your done..

Follow the instructions in the service manual. It really is a easy operation and as Fathertime says to use a long tang small head flat screwdriver to realign if it needs it to reinstall.

leave the bars straight and then turn the ign switch to the lock but dont push down... but the best way is to pull the outer fairing and remove the radio...

Leave the handlebars straight.
Turn the switch to the lock position.
Put the key in the lock.
With your finger depress the little button tab underneith the switch assembly - hold it.
Turn the key counter clockwise.
Pull up on the switch assembly - it comes out. Done.
Now don't turn the handlebars all the way to the left or it will lock.
If you do and it does lock, Put the assembly back into place - switch facing locked position obviously.
Turn the key clockwise and remove.
Turn the switch to the Unlock position.
Straighten handlebars.
Do the removal again if need be...

Thanks LP, thats the info I was looking for. Did not like the idea of sticking a screwdriver in the switch to unlock the bars. Don't know why the manual tells you to put bars all the way left and locked when you remove the switch. By the way, dealer told me that the alignment tool was not available. Dawg, you were right as usual. Found the JIMs alignment tool in J&P catalog for 110.00. Seems like a lot for this simple tool.
