Blaster,
Sounds like a great upcoming adventure. I used a Tiimberland 2-man for years. Timeberland is of good quality and modest cost. Since getting older, (and a little heavier) I graduated to a Timberland 4-man dome with shock corded poles. Graduating to a 4 man is sorta like going to a bigger bike. You'll love the room and find that once you use it, it's hard to go back to a 2-man.
Best of luck on your adventure.
Sam

That's right, don't be a bunch of softie's! Throw the tarp over the bike, dig a trench around it so the water run's away when it rains....wake me up at the Hoilday Inn when you get ready for breakfast....

Check out allsleepingbags.com. Looks like they have some Mummy type that pack very small.

I have a Eureka 2 man, or at least its supposed to be but I ain't ever gonna get in it with another man as it is on the small side. Anyway it is a very high quality tent, easy and fast to set up, very compact and has an outside storage area. In short you get what ya pay for....

Not only do you want to be covered, but you will want to block wind, cold and rain. For cross country, I opt for a tent over a tarp. It is a sacrifice of set up time but a backpacking tent may actually end up smaller and lighter than a tarp. Tents protect from skeeters and ants and **** that bites too, and you will get a better night's sleep, which you will welcome if you're trecking XCountry...

I use a Cabela's brand ultra light sleeping bag (55 degree rated) and a $8 bag liner (liner adds an additional 10 degrees) giving you three levels of insulation (liner, bag or liner+bag). Rolls up about the size of a softball! Add you rain suit and jacket for colder temps.

I have the Therm-a-Rest ProLite Plus Sleeping Pad that was $119 PLUS the cost of the stuff sack but use it a couple of times and its paid for itself. Its warm and comfortable and SMALL. I folds in half long ways then rolls up to the size of a junior football.

Get a roll up bucket from REI to wash your socks, ***, feet, windshield etc.

I also use a peak stove that folds to the size of a pack of cigaretts and a titanium coffe cup and 1 ltr pot. It all packs together, is the size of a 1/2 lb coffee can (even taking some coffee I might add) and runs on canned gas. Wiskey, water or coffee, the set does multi duty and you can cook stew and **** in it as well. I spent a lot of booty for this stuff but go out for one 10 day trip and you saved at least $500 in no-tell bills and your **** is paid for.

THats my $0.02

I'm gonna though my 2 cents in. I went though the 2008 sturgis storm with a cabela's two man tent, and sleeping bag. No water inside at all, great rainfly. I use a coleman twin size air mattress, and use a battery pump to fill her up. The batteries last quite a while.

Probably the best mc tent on the market is the Apache tent. Just google it and read the reviews. It is an umbrella type tent that goes up in less than 60 secs. That is great when u are trying to get it going in the rain. Check it out, I think u will be amazed with this tent.
