I would at least take a small 7X7 or 10X10 dome tent..I have one from Wally World, rolls small, uses compression sticks, light weight, easy to pack....but as I've gotten older I really like hotels...haven't use the tent in years...

This is very similar to what I carry.. lightweight and keeps you dry.. room enough to change clothes.

I just ordered this one from Amazon
One pole, one person setup, but HAS to be staked down, not freestanding.
I ordered four different tents to test them and sent them back until I found this one.
The others were free standing but setting them up by myself took too long and was diffucult.

What is the cot like? I've been quite happy using a thermorest mattress on the tent floor.

Just about any tent will do as long as you are familier with putting it up, but in freezing conditions I would think twice about a cot, when the cold air gets under the cot it is almost impossible to stay warm, but that might just be me.

I've found bungie cords and a tarp work pretty well. Throw the tarp over the bike and peg each side.

A small tent will be warmer than a large tent if the only heater is you!
