I am puting Avon Venoms on my 08 Ultra classsic. I spoke with customer service at jake Wilson.com, and asked if I should run the MT90HB-16 74H Am42 on the rear?
They said to get the tire that most compares wiwth the stock tire I have on, the Dunlop 402 MU8516, I should get the 150/80/16. My question is should it be the 77H or the 77V? Is there anyone running these on the rear and what's the difference. all responses welcome.
They said the front was good which is a Venom MT90HB-1674H AM41
I love Avons and have had several sets on my old Glide. Their website should tell you which tyre they recommend, although my reading of it is they say 140/MU. You could email them with your query, as they are usually very quick replying (allow for time difference, as they are here in the UK).
H rated tyres are perfectly suitable for our Harleys!
I did a live chat with two different people and got two different answers, which got me wondering who was right. Once just said 150/50/16 while the other said he wouldn't know unless he knew what was the stock number on the bike, which I aleady psoted above.
Hi Im Going with Venoms on My 08 S/G Same size as you But Im going with the 77V Rear because their a Little Wider(6.20) then the 77H (5.9) Hope this Helps.
I am running my second set now and really like them. I put some on a Sportster and they really fell into turns - but on my Road King they are a very well handling set up... Not sure about the H or the V...
I put Venoms on the RG (front and rear) when I put the fat tire kit on. They are a very noticable improvement over the Dunlops with acceloration and turns.
