I put in iridium plugs at 6,000 miles --- at 52,000 they still look brand new and perform the same as brand new

Met an "old school" type Harley guy on my most recent 3200 mile trip. In conversation he iterated that he replaced his battery every year but had never replaced his spark plugs after 110,000 miles on his EG.

Sounds misplaced to me but... to each his own.

They are nice. I have a set that are one step colder that I put in when the temps go over 105. It stops the heat induced pinging.

I replace mine about every 15k mi.,gap my plugs @.040 in.,use anti-seize compond on the threads and don't over tighten.I've heard too many horror stories of the threads coming out with the plug.

Google it and get ready for hours of pro-con reading. They stopped the ping in my motor going to a colder heat range.

Iridiums are supposed to last longer and in my experience, they do -- I have had them on 2 bikes and ran one set 32, 00o miles and they looked brand new (sold the bike) and now in this bike they have gone 52,000 and look brand new -- they cost me 8 dollars a piece so for me, they have save me money for buying new plugs and time changing them

I use Champions. Cheap & work fine in every hog I've ever owned. Change when I think about it, about every 15,000 miles or so.
