I posted a thread in the general chat area about my crash last week..."my cadillac is gone"....but my question here is-
I will upgrade from my 01 to an 06 to 08.
what are any major or worthwhile reasons to pick one year over another?
i posted crash pics in my album here.
no helmet, 60mph, suv=dislocated elbow.
Sololucky,
Glad you're still around after that incident. The 2007 was the first year with the 96cu inch and 6 speed in the Touring line. Also, the IDS was available as a retrofit and much needed althoughj the bikes came with that installed in 2008. One concern with the 2007-2010's is heat due to EPA and how lean the bikes are running. Harley keeps tinkering around to try to reduce the felt heat but until you get a dyno tune with a SERT, SE air filter and aftermarket pipes you won't solve the root cause of the heat.
Oh, and I should mention I have a bike with all the issues solved for sale at a great price if you're looking to move to a 2007 Road Glide.
There's a reason there are alot of 09's for sale. Mine would be also if I wasn't burried in it. The rear suspension blows and the tire wear is terrible. I would gladly trade it in for a different bike if I could. This time next year i will be in a better position.
I have heard other guys say the same thing....I don't get it, I have about 9K on mine 09 Ultra and could not be happier. No cupping of the front tire, I make sure the air pressure is at 36 pounds. It does have a slightly rough ride when you hit some ripples at slower speeds but not too bad, the great ride and tracking ability of the bike at higher speeds more than makes up for it. Make sure you keep 25-30 pounds of air in your suspension. I stepped up from an 03 Ultra to this bike and the 09 ride and handling ability is so far superior, there is no comparison.

Are you aware there's a recall on the front tires of 2009 touring bikes?

Wow, are the 09 shocks different than th 08's? I keep 10 psi in my rear shocks! No tour pack or passenger but I didn't think you could put that much air in them. I'll have to get the book out.
