Can anyone explain what exactly the fly by wire is. Also, does this affect the idling of the bike, i was told that the fly by wire is responsible for the up and down idling on my 09 streetglide. It only does this for a short while and only on initial start up. If i ride up the street it seems it settles down.
Also, is this a normal occurance with a fly by wire setup?
thanks,

Basically, instead of a cable attaching from the throttle plate to the grip which controls the opening and closing of the plate when you twist the grip, you have a sensor grip that electronically controls the throttle plate and as you twist the grip the plate is opened/closed via the sensor and electrical wiring (hence fly by wire or drive by wire).

Is this a normal thing? the up and down of the idle, is anyone else experiencing this? Can this be calmed down?
mine does same thing could let it warm up a little longer i let mine warm1- 2 minites idle drops at that point to 1100 rpm if i gass it alittle it may go to 1300 rpm but quickly settles back, after 1/2 mile drops to 900 rpm
I notice that if I start out before the idle has come down to 1000 or 900 that it tends to stay on a high idle for awhile. (5-10 miles maybe).
Need to let it warm up untill it drops back.
Also, these FBW throttles seem much more sensitive than the cable throttles, bumps in the road have me blipping the throttle.
My 2011 went into limp mode for no reason that I could think of. I rode it home at 20mph for about 8mi. I parked in the shed, totally pissed off. I went out to start it about an hour later and everything was back to normal. Can I depend on this not recurring ?
